Failed Banks

Every evening I get an email from the Bankruptcy Court that lists all the activity for that day in the bankruptcy cases I'm involved with.

Yesterday the description of one transaction began like this:

Docket Text:
Notice Re: SUBSTITUTION OF THE FDIC AS RECEIVER FOR ---------- BANK

Remember when you used to think that the FDIC was an archaic vestige of the Great Depression?

The financial world sure has changed since I left it. So glad to have to deal with diapers and snack time instead of banks.

I'm working on creating my own country in which we'll use chocolate chip cookies as currency and bakeries will be the new bank. And you'll know when a place has gone bake-rupt because they'll only have those lousy raisin filled cookies left.

That is an unpleasant thought. I like Leah's ideas, though.
