Moot Court

Last week the Dawson & Sodd, P.C. Moot Court Competition started at school. Nothing better for the ego than public speaking followed closely by criticism of your public speaking style. Basically, the competition is a bunch of 1st and 2nd year law students pretending to argue cases before the Supreme Court. It isn't graded but if you make it far enough in the tournament you get extra grade points and a chance to be a "barrister" next year and get additional extra grade points. Barristers are the students who pretend to be the judges in the competition.

I was called on in my Criminal Law, Torts, and Legal Administration, Policy, and Procedure classes this week. I did pretty good in all of them except for LAPP which was mediocre. I was standing pretty much the entire class period while being questioned in LAPP so I didn't even have to take notes--which is actually kind of nice. My wrists have been sore lately. I guess I've been typing too much.

Amanda has this new thing lately. When I walk in from school she says, "You home Daddy?" I say, "Yes! How are you?" She replies, "I'm happy now!" That is always nice to hear after a busy day at the law school.

It has been stormy lately. Yesterday the little girls who live 3 houses down were outside when I was driving by on my way home. They were playing in the heavy rain of the thunderstorm that was raging. Right as I drove by there was a very loud thunderclap and I could hear the girls screaming over my rock 'n roll which was blasting over the noise of the storm. Amanda is starting to scream a bit. What I mean is that she screams sometimes when she gets excited. I guess I could send her out into the storm and let her scream with the neighbor girls if she gets on my nerves.

My 5 year anniversary is on Saturday. I went to buy Janel what she wanted at the beauty supply store this afternoon. I had to call her and ask her exactly which foot product she wanted. That was lame. What a great surprise eh? Oh well, I'm studying hard so that I can afford to surprise her in the future, you know, after our marriage has really cooled off in 13 years.

Dale called and told me what a bunch of sillies his bosses are. I've only worked one place where I didn't feel like my bosses were absolute sillies. That was CordeValle. Actually, my bosses at McWhorter's when I worked in the store weren't too bad either.
