The Great Waco Flood

These are photographs of the street in front of our duplex in Waco. The one above was taken on Mother's Day after about 40 minutes of hard rain. The one below was taken the next morning at about 8am. Despite witnessing several terrific thunderstorms in my day (quite a few in Arizona during the summer, and several in the mountains of California) I have NEVER seen anything quite like the last two storms we've had here in Waco, TX. Awesome. We're lucky that it didn't rain more than an hour because the river going down our street had risen over the curb and was inching towards the house. Compare the dead spot in our front lawn in the photographs to see how far the water had risen above the curb.

Yeah, didn't you hear about the ark we're building? Oh, you didn't? Hmm...
