Amanda is Funny

Me: Amanda, do you want to go live with Papa or stay with me?
Amanda: PAPA!
Papa: I have a pool you can swim in.
Me: You really want to go live with him and leave your daddy?
Amanda: Yes.
Papa: We'll have lots of fun.
Me: (With a straight face.) Okay, you've made your choice and now you have to go and live with Papa.
Amanda: No, let's not do that, let's not do that.

I'm Fabulous!

Today was the last day of the July 2006 Texas Bar Exam. These last few months have been an endless cycle of study, eat, sleep, study, eat, sleep. I have been looking forward to this afternoon with a great deal of anticipation. Whenever times got tough, I would just think of Thursday, July 27 at 5pm. The day when I would finally be finished with law school and the bar exam! Alas, when I arrived at my abode this afternoon, triumphant, exuberant, excited to see my family and to finally be able to truly relax--I realized that something was horribly wrong. There were no streamers, there was no confetti, and no one had made any dinner. My home was empty. I was alone.

Shed a tear in my honor dear friend. A single tear of tragic disappointment while you whisper the words, "Poor, dear, sweet, Garlic Boy, poor, dear, sweet, tragically disappointed, Garlic Boy."

I'm Okay

After two days of the bar exam I'm doing okay. This is mostly because:

1. I have not fallen asleep any of the testing sessions so far.
2. I didn't cry in the hallway after the multi-state portion of the test today.
3. I have finished all the questions on each section of the test.

Studying Hard

You asked for it.

I'll take it down before Karin sees it if you act nice for a little while.

Haunting Children's Book

This book is supposed to teach children about their five senses. Unfortunately, the five senses this book teaches are: 1) Sight 2) Touch 3) Smell 4) Hearing 5) Fear. Although the subject matter of the book is definitely amusing (Hailey loves it), the pictures scare me. Why does David have to look like he came right out of a horror movie? The soulless eyes, misshapen nose, grotesque coloration, and haggard grin all combine to haunt my every waking moment. Little David, you scare me!

Bryan is a Poser

I'm camping out at school this week studying for the bar exam. A few minutes ago I left my desk to take a break and when I came back "Mary" (Bryan) had written a note on my laptop:

"David, I have a crush on you and I’m ready to be open about it. From the first time we met in the chat room. I knew I liked you when I saw your big muscles and white legs. Love you forever, Mary"

I guess the most disturbing part about the whole thing is that Bryan notices my BIG muscles.

Latest School Update

I took my second to last law school exam this morning. It was pretty difficult. So difficult that many people had a hard time understanding the test instructions. Here is an email from Professor Powell that I received after the test:

"Several of you have expressed confusion over whether multiple answers were permitted on the exam. The instructions said “when multiple answers are called for” then you should provide all correct answers. Several questions expressly called for multiple answers and those are the ones that the instruction referred to. In no other question is there more than one correct answer. I will just have to look at your answers to see if you get credit for putting multiple answers on questions that didn’t call for them. If you put answers that were not correct (however many answers you put) then you will not get credit for the answer."

I guess this could be good for the curve. We'll see. Poor guys who didn't understand the test. They must be suffering right now. Did I do it right? Yikes!

I Already Had Dinner

David: Amanda, what are you doing in there?

Amanda: (Evasively) Getting something I want.

David: What are you doing?

Amanda: Getting something I want.

David: What are you getting?

Amanda: Candy.

David: No!

Amanda: I already had all my dinner!

David: We haven't even had dinner. Mom is at the store buying it as we speak!

Amanda: But I want it!

Jesus is Coming Back

Amanda: Have you ever seen Jesus, Daddy?

David: (Thinks for a moment.) No, I haven't.

Amanda: I haven't either. And neither has Mommy, or Hailey because her born at the same time as us.

David: (Stunned silence. Thinking to self: is she going to ask me why no one has seen Jesus?)

Amanda: But Jesus is coming back! That is what my teacher told me.

David: (Relieved) That's right, he is.

Amanda: I can't wait to see him! I'm so excited!

Clifford the Big Red Dog

David: Amanda! I'm almost going to be done with my homework forever! After a few weeks have past, I'll never have to do homework again. We can just play all the time when I come home from work.

Amanda: And you can be Clifford.

David: What?

Amanda: You can dress up in your Clifford clothes.

David: I don't have any Clifford clothes.

Amanda: Yes you do.

David: What do you mean?

Amanda: You have a red suit to be like Clifford.

David: I don't think so. Maybe you dreamed it.

Amanda: No! You have a red shirt and red pants and you look like Clifford!

David: (sweetly) Amanda, I really don't have a Clifford costume. Maybe you dreamed about it.

Amanda: Yes you do!

David: Okay, go look in my closet and see if you can find any red pants.

Amanda: (Eyes narrowed, in a low voice, with a suspicious look on her face.) Maybe you got rid of them...

Cute

David: "Amanda, look out your window. There's a squirrel climbing a fence. Did you see it?"

Amanda: "No, you was driving too fast!"

David: "You were driving too fast."

Amanda: "I not driving! You was!"
